It might be time to update your fixtures. When selling your home it is important to upgrade fixtures throughout a home. If your home looks outdated then a buyer's first reaction will be "this house needs work". To buyers extra work means extra money. So make sure you update your fixtures to make your home look current. You can find nice, affordable fixtures at your local home improvement store. A home stager will also recommend upgrades through a home consultation. They can tell you what fixtures will look best for your style of home and what buyers will like. Selling a home is different then living in a home. Personal preference is for living not for selling. Here are some examples of outdated fixtures. If you have them in your home it might be time to update your fixtures.

Mannie, thanks for the info.
Thanks for calling out the brass and dated fixtures. New fixtures can make such a difference.
Hi Indera - thanx for stopping by love your name!
Jim & Linda - I agree just changing out a light changes the look of a room.
And what I love about just changing the fixtures is that it is relatively inexpensive and easy to do. It's amazing what small things can do.
Those fixtures are very popular in the Montreal area too... your so right it raises a lot of questions for buyers as too how much is actually involved when buying the home.
Great post,
Hi Lisa - I agree.
Hi Liz - yes buyers view it as the home needing work. Thanx for stopping by!
Mannie- it's hard for homeowners because they see these fixtures every day and, who really pays attention to them. That is until you're ready to sell. Good points.
Don't ya just love brass!!!! If it's been more than 10 years since you installed those, they are more than likely outdated. Love the pictures to show as an example. Thanks for sharing!!
Julie
Hi Kathy - yes this client had no idea that these fixtures were no longer "in style".
Hi Julie - showing the pictures helps people relate thanx for stopping by.
Those are what I call contractor specials....they all got them back in the 80's!! And they all need to be replaced!!
Hi Kathy - so true I actually recommended that they upgrade to the oiled bronze fixtures as they had these beautiful cabinets that would look even better with the new fixtures.
So many homes need this!!! Great post! Chrome is what is hot here. The oiled bronze is on the way out.
Mannie ~ I just went through this with a client last night. They are going to update both their bathrooms before putting the house on the market. I cannot wait to post some pictures. Updating the old brass fixtures is always an excellent idea. Kate
Hi Kate - glad you stopped by it has been a while. Please post the before and afters I know it will be a huge difference. I look forward to seeing them.
