I staged this lovely townhouse in Leesburg, VA and the budget only allowed for vignette staging which I actually love to do because it makes you dig deep into your creative side to create interesting and purposeful scenes.

Great "before and after" work, Mannie! It's amazing how just a few well-placed extra pieces can have a big impact!
Hi Sharon - thanx for visiting my blog. I agree it's the right pieces that create the impact.
Mannie - That really looks very cozy and inviting. Great job.
Thanx Linda - I appreciate it!
Mannie- Even with just the vignette, it gives the room some character. Better than a vacant room.
Hi Kathy - thanx for visiting and I agree it at least adds a bit of color and charm!
Mannie - this vignette really tells a story, with the half read book and cup of coffee. The red really gives some interest. I agree with the others - far better to vignette than not to vignette at all.
Great job Mannie. Love the chair!
I used to do vignette staging about 3 years ago. It worked well in its time for this area, but we have had to step it up and roll with the current market. Glad that it is working for you and your clients agree. There is no way we could do it here. The market does not justify it and we do not offer it in our services any more.
Our market is similar to Lori's -- vignette staging is only done here rarely. In a market where staging is new, vignettes can have a place to introduce the concept, but in a more mature/developed market, clients expect full staging. I'm glad it's working in your area and agree that if done well like your example, it's better than a vacant home.
Sally and Shar - thank you for stopping by and the nice comments!
Lori & Maureen - I realize that vignette staging doesn't work for every home but I do believe it has its place in the home staging market. This is a very cost effective way to at least make the home more appealing then having nothing visual to look at when entering a room. At least it defines the space and provides purpose. I personally love staging this way as it really makes you think more creatively. Thank you for your comments they are appreciated.
I have a home with just vignette staging because the realtors believe in staging, but the owner doesn't want to spend the money. Even at that, he was wanting me to cut what I charged (the realtors were making him pay half). I sent a detailed explanation of how many hours it actually takes behind the scenes.
So I think it's better than nothing, but this is in a million dollar home, so the owner totally should have stepped up to the plate!
Beth - like you said budget is a big factor most of the time for my clients as well. I do believe that something is better than nothing as long as it is done tastefully and it provides the purpose you need for the room. You have to work with what you are given or not given sometimes. Thanx for stopping by and commenting.
