No matter what happens sometimes you just have to make it work! I staged a 2 bedroom row house in Washington, DC in an upcoming neighborhood. The investor did a fabulous job in renovating it and adding some very contemporary and modern touches to the home. So after checking out the demographics I realized that it needed to be staged for a "younger" buyer.
I ordered the furniture specific to a modern style and all went well until we got the bed - the furniture company sent me a sleigh bed!! It had a box spring and a mattress and you needed a step stool to get into it - not modern at all! So my assistant and I said we had to make it work - so we did. We took off the box springs and just laid the mattress on the boards and then dressed the bed in a contemporary style. We then used the box springs in the second bedroom added an air mattress on top and we had bed number two (there was orignally no money in the budget for an extra bed). We dressed it up and Voila we made it work regardless of the mishap! So here are the results of our labor! We think it came out pretty good - But wait there is more this home went under contract in 4 days! So no matter what happens make it work!

Thanx Andy- I appreciate you stopping by!
You made it work beautifully. Congrats on your success!
Thanx Barb! I was so happy when the investor called and said the home had multiple offers and they accepted a contract after 4 days!
Mannie- part of the challenge in staging is working with what you have! Good job.
Hi Kathy - isn't that the truth! I've had to improvise many times but it always seems to work its way out if you don't panic!
Congrats on the quick sale and great job making it work so well :)
Mannie....so true....sometimes we just have to "make it work"! And that bed DOES work beautifully! GREAT thinking on your feet!
Thanx Wanda - I am thrilled!
Hi Kathy - I've had many thinking on my feet moments! Thanx for stopping by.
Hmmm, you just gave me a great idea in case this ever happens to me :>) I think I would have panicked, you thought it through. Nice job!
Mannie - Great work! That sure is thinking outside of the boxspring - uh, I mean box!
Hi Amy - I did panic but then I got my brain working and it came together! Thanx for stopping by!
Hi Sally - LOL! Definitely thinking outside the boxspring!
You know you are s Home Stager when "Nothing phases!" Congrats on the work and the sale.
Thanx Laura - isn't that the truth! Thanx for stopping by to comment.
"make It Work" is truly a Staging mantra, isn't it? Thank goodness we are an optimistic bunch - we have happy mistakes! Julie
You said it Julia! Make it work! Thanx for stopping by.
Mannie: Now that is creative problem solving. A sleigh bed would have seemed too big and too traditional. Making a second bed from the box spring is just genius . Love it.
Thanx Valerie - you are so kind with all your comments on all my posts. I really appreciate it.
I always say we are problem solvers and you proved it!
Way to make it all work Mannie! Success again!
Hi Janice and Penny - we are definitely problem solvers and we know how to make it work! Thanx for stopping by.
Making it work really paid off for you and for your client ... good idea to make that bed into two. Magic!
Thanx Maureen - appreciate you stopping by!
